During the meticulous restoration of a beautiful 1870 heritage home, 20% of the original floorboards were found to be beyond repair. Dean, the Traditional Bricklayer, took these historical timbers to the mill, where they were meticulously de-nailed, sanded, and shaped into three exquisite timber scratchers.
These scratchers are used to joint up mortar, as the timber draws the aggregate and moisture, giving the mortar an aged appearance. Dean frequently showcases these in his videos, demonstrating their effectiveness in achieving an authentic, time-worn look.
See the video for a detailed look at the manufacturing process of these unique tools.
Now, these scratchers have been recycled and will go on to restore buildings around the world. You have the opportunity to own a piece of history for your toolkit.
